Club Awards
Celebrating achievement, commitment and club legacy
Ballarat Gold Swimming Club was established in 1998 by Peter Pay and has continued to grow and thrive through the dedication and commitment of its volunteer committee and coaching team.
The Club Champion Awards were introduced in 2007 to recognise excellence, commitment, and contribution across the club. The Junior Club Champion Perpetual Trophy is named in honour of Pam Toom, the club’s longest-serving member, who was awarded Life Membership in 2011 in recognition of her outstanding service to Ballarat Gold.
The Club Champion Award is named after Peter Pay, acknowledging his role as the club’s founder and his lasting contribution to the club and its values.
Over time, the awards and their criteria have been reviewed to ensure they continue to reflect the spirit, values, and evolving nature of the club.
The Best Clubman Award recognises both a senior and a junior swimmer who consistently go above and beyond. This award celebrates individuals who demonstrate kindness, inclusivity, and leadership, and who willingly step into volunteering or leadership roles that make a positive difference within the club community.

Past Awards Winners
Ballarat Gold Swimming Club was first started in 1998 by Peter Pay. Since this time the Club has steadily grown and prospered due to the hard work of the Committee and the Coaching staff. In 2007 the Club Champion Awards were first commenced. The Junior Club Champion Perpetual Trophy is named after Pam Toom, Pam is the Clubs longest serving member and in 2011 was made a Life Member. The Club Champion Award was named after Peter Pay, the Club Founder. With the introduction of North Ballarat as a sponsor, the committee was compelled to review the club awards resulting in changes to the awards and their criteria.
